We are seeking a driven and commercially astute Business Development Manager to join our utility-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) Named Account (NA) team and expand our business in the Netherlands. This role is critical to building long-term strategic partnerships, driving revenue growth, and strengthening our position in a rapidly evolving energy storage market.
Job Title: Utility-Scale BESS Business Development Manager
Job Location: Rijswijk, Netherlands
Main Responsibilities:
Align with the company’s go-to-market strategy to proactively identify, develop, and expand sales opportunities within the Dutch utility-scale BESS market, with a focus on high-value, long-term partnerships.
Build, manage, and deepen trust-based relationships with key stakeholders, including utilities, developers, investors, and IPPs. Develop a strong understanding of their business needs, challenges, and strategic priorities.
Own and drive the end-to-end sales process for assigned NAs, working closely with cross-functional teams (e.g., technical, legal, and project management) across RFP responses, solution development, contract negotiation, and deal closure.
Take full ownership of the sales performance of assigned NAs, including order intake, revenue targets, and market share growth. Develop and execute actionable account plans, track progress, and adjust strategies to ensure targets are achieved.
Monitor market trends, regulatory developments, and competitive dynamics in the Netherlands, and provide actionable insights to internal stakeholders to refine go-to-market strategies and product positioning.
Requirements:
Proven experience in business development and key account management within the energy sector. Candidates with prior experience at BESS vendors or utility-scale project developers are strongly preferred, ideally with a proven track record of originating and closing BESS projects.
Solid understanding of the Dutch energy storage market, including regulatory frameworks, market mechanisms, and key industry players. Existing customer relationships are a strong advantage.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence decision-makers and collaborate effectively across teams.
Strong commercial acumen, self-motivation, and a results-driven mindset, with the ability to work independently and thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
Professional fluency in English is required; Dutch language skills are a strong plus.
Bachelor’s degree or above in Business Administration, Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related field.
